Born and raised in this district, Michael learned the value of hard work and public service from his mother, a retired school bus driver for the Bethlehem Area School District, and father, a retired union printer.
After graduating Freedom High School (1995), Michael worked hard and helped pay his own way through college, both as an undergraduate at Penn State University (1999), and as a law student at Western New England College School of Law (2003).
Upon graduating from law school and passing the Pennsylvania Bar Exam in 2003, Michael began practicing law with a local law firm. He quickly learned his way around the local courts, and gained a reputation as excellent attorney and advocate for his clients.
Michael has extensive experience as a litigator and has previously served in the capacity of legal counsel and solicitor to several local municipalities. He has argued cases before the highest courts of the Commonwealth, and has worked to help indigent and less fortunate persons have a voice in court.
After practicing law for several years, Michael took a foray into politics and was elected to Bethlehem City Council in 2011. Michael served on City Council for 4 years, and was elected as Vice-President of City Council by his fellow council members. He also served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and Human Resources and Environment Committee, and as a member of the Public Safety and Parks and Recreation Committees.
Michael has also taught political science and legal courses as an Adjunct Professor at Northampton Community College, has served as a member of the Bethlehem Parking Authority Board of Directors.
He currently owns his own law practice, the Law Offices of Michael D. Recchiuti, LLC, which maintains an office in the district at 1502 Center Street. Michael has represented hundreds of clients through the years. Among his primary areas of practice are civil law, landlord-tenant, family law, estate planning & administration, DUI and traffic violations.
Michael is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New York, and before the U.S. District Court for Eastern Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Northampton County Bar Association, Bar Association of Lehigh County and New York State Bar Association.
Michael is also a certified legal guardian. He is trusted by the Judges of the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas to be an advocate and make decisions for and on behalf of elderly people here in the county.
Michael resides in Hanover Township where he lives with his wife Tina, 3 year-old daughter, Sophia, and dog Elle. Michael, his family, friends, and supporters hope you'll trust him to be the Magisterial District Judge for the North Bethlehem and Hanover Township district.
